A young man escaped with his life, without any wounds, after he was the apparent target of a volley of shots sprayed by Security Forces –Police and RSS-, according to witnesses. The incident occurred around 9 30 on Saturday night, December 1, in the Phillip’s Village area.
According to several credible sources, the young man was driving down an area in Phillips’ called Spooners when he saw the Security Forces approaching in the opposite direction. He then began to reverse his vehicle. The security officers pursued him and upon reaching the outskirts of the village, shots were fired, witnesses say. Some witnesses indicate that they heard five shots.
A number of villagers ran toward the area where the shots were fired and inquired of the Security forces about the young man who was being pursued but were not given any response for quite some time.
The Security officers then proceeded to search the home of the young man who fired upon.
A source close to the apparent target disclosed that it was only after midnight that the Security officers revealed that the young man was not shot.
It is alleged that Security forces claim that they saw something thrown out of the vehicle that they were pursuing and it turned out to be a firearm. This has not been confirmed by the Police.
The vehicle which the young man was driving has at least two bullet holes.
When a questioned was posed to the Police on news circulating about one person being shot and killed by officers in Phillips’, the Acting Commissioner of Police branded it as “fake news.” However, the Police have not issued any release addressing the incident.
