Alleged home invasion and rape in Newton Ground

Residents of the Newton Ground area have been left traumatized after news broke of an apparent home intrusion, abuse of a family and the eventual rape of one of the family members.

The incident happened in the early this morning, June 4, according to sources.

There are varying accounts about the incident but several persons have alleged that multiple persons, disguised as Defence Force personnel went to a home in the area and solicited money.

The unknown persons’ requests triggered off suspicion among the family members.

The unknown persons eventually overpowered the residents, tied up the husband and the young son and then proceeded to rape a female occupant of the house, villagers claim.

There are also multiple reports of a vehicle belonging to the occupants of the home being stolen by the unknown perpetrators.

Police have confirmed an incident in Newton Ground but were unable to provide any further details up to press time. They have indicated that more information will be forthcoming.

Meanwhile, residents of the area expressed their disgust with the incident.
