Another firearm has been confiscated in St. Kitts as security forces grapple with a mushrooming gun culture in the federation.
Police have confirmed the seizure of the weapon during a brief operation yesterday, February 26, in the Millionaire Street area, of the Village. It is not yet clear if matching ammunition was confiscated as well.
Reports also indicate that one suspect is custody in connection to the find.
Credible sources say security forces, who were on foot patrol in the area, noticed an individual acting suspiciously and gave chase. The individual was apprehended.
It has also been reported that the firearm was found following a search of the immediate proximity.
Police have confiscated six illegal firearms in the federation so far for 2019- five in St. Kitts and one in Nevis.
