BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (KYSS FM) – Carnival stakeholders and the wider public are up in arms once again with the National Carnival Committee and its Chairman Noah Mills, after having learned that this year’s Prize Giving ceremony will be a an exclusive private event.
Earlier this month, Chairman Mills finally announced that the long awaited event will be held tomorrow, Friday 20th April 2018 at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel.
Mr. Mills added that that the event is being hosted in honor of the winners of the various competitions, sponsors, and corporate partners and, as a result, will be an invitation only affair.
Sources close to the event have confirmed that to gain entrance, one must present an invitation.
In past years, the event has been held in Basseterre where the public was able to share in the celebration with the winners of various carnival events.
Since this latest faux pas on the part of the Carnival Committee many people have expressed their disgust on various social media platforms.
There has also been a resurgence of scrutiny of the committee with this latest controversial decision to restrict attendance to the prize giving ceremony which many people have come to look forward to each year as part of the annual Carnival celebration.
