DR. GEOFFREY HANLEY PRAISES PREDECESSOR, DR. ASIM MARTIN’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE NATION
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (KYSS FM) – the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party’s (SKNLP) heir apparent for Consitutency Number 1, Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, reflected on the contribution Dr. Earl Asim Martin made both to the constituency, country and his party.
During a public meeting in New Town over the Labour Day weekend, Dr. Hanley paid tribute to former Deputy Prime Minister and current Deputy Leader of the SKNLP, Dr. Martin.
For more than 25 years, Dr. Martin has been a member of the Labour party and served for several years as the member of parliament for Constituency one.
Following his loss at the polls in 2015, while he has remained vocal on various issues affecting the country, he has taken a less prominent political role.
While addressing the gathering, Dr. Hanley noted the important and irreplaceable role that Dr. Martin and other Labour Party Leaders have had on the community.
These comments by Hanley, in addition to his recent resignation from the public service, have fueled rumors that he will become Dr. Martin’s successor.
A formal announcement of the candidates who will run on the Labour Party ticket next elections will likely be announced following the Party’s annual convention later this month.
While not giving away the truth of these speculations, Dr. Hanley openly shared his commitment to and support of the SKNLP.
