Date: 26th August, 2017

Basseterre, ST KITTS (KYSS) — Commissioner of Police, Ian Queeley, has described the disruption and elimination of gang activity in the federation as a joint effort between government and law enforcement.

The declaration came during a press conference hosted by the police force on Thursday 24th August, 2017

Responding to an inquiry by SKN NEWS NOW as to what measures are in place to ensure gangs disrupted by the Anti-Gang Task Force remain fragmented, COP Queeley stated that this is where the government must step in and play a significant role.

Dr. Neals Cchitan, a Grenadian crime reduction specialist, provided additional details on how government intends to approach the gang epidemic.

Dr Chitan, whose services have been commissioned by the government of St. Kitts and Nevis for the third time in two years, explained that a soon-to-be launched programme will seek to unearth the root causes of gang activity.
