France to launch global competition to rebuild Notre Dame spire

International architects will be invited to help recreate the Notre Dame Cathedral’s spire, which was destroyed in Monday’s fire.

French President Emmanuel Macron wants to restore the iconic structure to its full glory within five years. But some experts are warning it could take much longer.

Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said a committee will oversee Notre Dame’s reconstruction and international competition will be launched to rebuild the spire.
