GOV’T TRANSPARENCY NEAR NON-EXISTENT SAYS DR DREW

Date: 24th August, 2017

Basseterre, ST KITTS (KYSS) — Dr. Terrance Drew has likened the level of transparency in the government to that of a heavily tinted vehicle.

Raising the matter of the perceived lack of government transparency, Dr. Drew took issue with the public’s inability to access and examine information regarding government’s use of public funds.

He further remarked that the passage of the Public Accounts Committee Bill 2017 has compounded the difficulties in ensuring government’s accountability.

The Labour Party caretaker for Constituency 8 further stated while the public’s view into government spending has been further reduced with the passage of the PAC Bill, recent documents published by the United States government have offered a reliable view into the government of St. Kitts and Nevis’ spending in relation to the services of American lawyer and lobbyist, Lanny Davis.
