A Greenlands resident, Diamond Williams, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, in relation to a fatal accident on July 5. As a result of the accident, Hement Saffee lost his life.
Williams was granted bail in the amount of $70000, with two sureties. His case is set for August 1.
The driver was charged the same day that an autopsy revealed that Saffee, the vicitim in the accident, died of traumatic Shock due to multiple traumatic injuries.
The autopsy was performed by Dr. Adrian Nunez Quintana.
“The accident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. and involved motor car P 7226 driven by Diamond Williams of Greenlands and pedestrian Hement Saffee of Shadwell. Circumstances are that motor car P 7226 was traveling east along the F.T. Williams Highway and when it got in the vicinity of JAM’s Welding Shop, the pedestrian was crossing the road and was struck,” the initial Police report stated.
This is the second road fatality in less than a month in the federation.
On June 17, Cleon “Clix” Dore died of injuries he sustained after being involved in an accident in Gingerland, Nevis.
