BARBADOS TODAY – Former clerical officer at the Psychiatric Hospital Anderson Ryan Ince today lost his freedom after he was found guilty of stealing and laundering $1.118 million belonging to the hospital.
Despite an application by lead defence attorney Steve Gollop, Ince’s $100, 000 bail was revoked moments after the nine-member jury returned the unanimous verdict on both counts just after 2.p.m. today in the No.5 Supreme Court.
The decision brought to a close the almost three-week trial, which was presided over by Madam Justice Michelle Weekes.
Members of the jury, which comprised both men and women, left the No 2 Supreme Court around 12:20 p.m. after the High Court judge concluded her summation of the trial, which heard a total of 49 witnesses.
When the verdict was read, Ince, who had been quiet throughout the trial, showed little to no emotion. However, after the order was given for him to be taken away, Ince glanced upwards to the court’s balcony where his parents had been sitting throughout the trial, before he was escorted out by a police officer.
However, the Hannays Road, St Lucy resident is yet to know his fate as a
pre-sentencing report was ordered into his life.
