High school student to get French experience with trip to Guadeloupe
Sixteen high school students from St. Kitts and Nevis will have the opportunity to experience French Culture first hand when they take a trip to Guadeloupe later this month. The trip has been organized by the Alliance Francaise and has been supported by the Ministry of Education.
“The trip will be held from Tuesday 19th February to Saturday 23rd February 2019. The program will include a tour of the island, a cultural morning with traditional dance and music « Gwoka », a visit to The Memorial ACTe museum (Regional Museum of Slavery), the traditional night market at Sainte-Anne and a day at the island of Les Saintes,” a statement issued from the Alliance Frances has revealed.
While in Guadeloupe, the students will be hosted by the College St. John Perse in Les Abymes.
The trip is critical step in building bridges between the youth of the two countries and is a major step in fulfilling the mandate of the Alliance Francaise which is to attract and to nourish the interest of students through the experience of living the (French) language.
Students from Guadeloupe are expected be hosted in St. Kitts later this year, to complete the exchange program. The dates for the second part of the exchanged have not been finalized as yet.
