The United Kingdom’s MPs have voted overwhelmingly for a general election on December 12.
This breaks the impasse over Brexit, and is Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s fourth time calling for an election.
Johnson leads a minority government and is hoping to secure a majority in parliament.
The European Union has formally granted the UK an extension to the Brexit deadline on January 31.
Johnson is betting that his party will win the election, allowing him to push his Brexit deal through.
