HON. MARCELLA LIBURD: GOV’T NOT SERIOUS ABOUT FIGHTING CRIME
Date: 14TH JUNE, 2017
Basseterre, ST KITTS (KYSS) — St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Chairperson, Honourable Marcella Liburd, has taken the position that the Team Unity government’s actions, and inaction in some instances, has demonstrated a lack of seriousness in its approach to fighting crime.
In her remarks in parliament on Tuesday, MP Liburd pointed out the Team Unity administration’s decision to disband the elite police Delta Squad which had been assembled by former Commissioner of Police, Dr C. G. Walwyn.
Ms. Liburd also highlighted the fact that the government, to date, has not decried or disassociated itself from threats made against several people on Facebook, by individuals claiming to be supporters of Team Unity.
