Hundreds of thousands of federal employees are going without paychecks as the government shutdown continues. As expenses mount, some workers are going to extremes to support themselves and their families.

Eight Cubans who are being held at the Immigration Detention Centre here have started a hunger strike to protest against the immigration process. The former chairman of Caricom’s sub-committee on cricket Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell has given a vote of no-confidence in the leadership of Cricket West Indies (CWI) president Dave Cameron.
