Livestock in St. Kitts and Nevis continue to be under threat because of a tick that thrives in tropical conditions.
The tick problem has been exacerbated by the passages of Hurricanes Irma and Maria and a shortage of Bayticol- the solution used to combat the ticks. The supply is all but depleted.
Director of Agriculture Dr. Melvin James provided some insight into the challenges that his department is facing because of the very limited supply of Bayticol.
In addition to the tick affecting their livestock, farmers have to deal with an unusually dry spell over the past few months.
