Police in Nevis are seeking the assistance of the general public in the solving of two armed robberies over the weekend. Investigations are ongoing into the two robberies but there is no evidence to link both incidents.
According to an initial report from the Police, just before midnight on Saturday 6th April, an armed and masked man held up a bar in Clay Ghaut and demanded money.
“The assailant made his escape with a sum of cash. No one was injured during the incident,” the Police release stated.
The second armed robbery incident occurred a day earlier, on April 5, in broad daylight.
According to the Police, sometime after 1 p.m., Ralph Ottley of Brazziers had arrived at his home and was about to enter his yard when he was attacked by three (3) armed masked men. They demanded money and managed to escape with a small sum of cash. They fired several shots before fleeing the scene. Ottley was transported to the Alexandra Hospital where he was treated and discharged for minor injuries.
The report did not specify whether Ottley’s injuries were as a result of the gunshots that were fired.
Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Department by dialling 469-5392 or the nearest Police Station.
