Natta case adjourned until September; prosecution not ready
Leon Natta Nelson, the young customs officer, who was charged with failing to renew his firearm license has to wait for another seven months for his case to be heard, after the prosecution team made the recommendation for adjournment because they were not ready.
Natta Nelson went to court yesterday, February 19, for his case only to hear the granting of a request for adjournment, in September.
In October 2018, Magistrate Donna Harris- sister of Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris, signed a warrant of arrest for Natta Nelson, under the pretext of his failure to renew the license for his firearm.
His arrest was widely interpreted as an act of victimization against Natta Nelson by the government.
Natta Nelson is a self-described community activist and is popular in constituency 7, the same area being represented by the Prime Minister.
Interestingly, reports have since circulated indicating that a number of other persons, including politicians, had not renewed the license for their firearms for various reasons but Natta Nelson was singled out as a way to spite him.
