Former senator under the Labour Party administration Nigel Carty has won a years’ long defamation case against current Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Shawn Richards.
The court victory came yesterday afternoon, April 15.
His Lordship Justice Eddy Ventose ruled in Carty’s favour, in relation to incidents that occurred on January 13th and 16, 2010.
Richards, at the time used the political platform of the People’s Action Movement to scandalize Carty, alleging “malfeasance in office.”
Carty expressed dismay that Richards would utter such statements, especially with no kind of evidence to substantiate the claims.
Carty spoke of the impact that Hon. Shawn Richards’ comments had on his reputation and branded the move as “low.”
Carty was represented by the Legal office of Sylvester Anthony.
