Basseterre, St. Kitts. November 27, 2018. – In response to a rumour circulating about a ban on at least one song for the upcoming Sugar Mas celebrations, the Carnival Committee, through its chairman Noah Mills, has issued a formal refutation.
Mills indicated that the National Carnival Committee has no control over what music is played on the radio stations- that is for the “law of the land”- but a request was made for bands, calypsonians and soca artistes to prepare versions of their songs which are children and radio friendly.
He noted that children are considered as stakeholders of the carnival product and as such measures have been put into place for their benefit.
A second rumour suggesting that popular calypsonian Unexpected has been arrested for his latest Sugar calypso has been also refuted by the relevant authorities.
