One more charged for gun discovery

Police have arrested and charged a fourth person in relation to an illegal firearm that was found during a stop and search operation on January 19, 2019. Nyon Dasent of New Road was charged on Tuesday (January 29) for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

Earlier, three other males -Isaiah Ritchen of East Street, New Town, Kevin Gaskin and Diondre Browne, both of New Road Housing – were charged for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition in relation to the same discovery.

The Police have indicated that investigations into the find are still ongoing.

In 2018, Police confiscated 37 illegal firearms. The Police High Command has also indicated that it will continue steadfastly in its fight against guns and ammunition.

However, an increase in gun related crime and violence has plagued the twin island state in recent times.
