Police are claiming a huge boost in their fight to rid the twin island state of illegal firearms, after their confiscation of thirty illegal firearms and assorted ammunition from reputed gang members.
The announcement was made by Acting Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy, during a press conference earlier this afternoon, August 13.
The weapons include an AK 47, sawed off shotguns and a variety of automatic and semi automatic pistols.
The Police have given a guarded response to the find but maintina that they will keep up their fight against illegal weapons on the street.
Acting Commissioner Brandy revealed the weapons were secured through a third party
There may be cause for a celebration with the confiscation of the weapons but there are many questions in relation to “processes” being undertaken to determine whether the weapons were used in the commission of any crimes and if no amnesty is being offered, what is then?
