POLICE CONFISCATE ANOTHER ILLEGAL FIREARM

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (KYSS FM) – Police have confiscated a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, increasing the number of illegal firearms seized by law enforcement officers to 35, for 2018.

Officers from the Tactical Unit and the Regional Security System (RSS) found the weapon in an empty plot of land while conducting an operation in the West Farm area on 14th November.

According to a press release issued by the Police, no ammunition was found with the firearm.

The release also stated that further analysis of the gun is being conducted by the Forensic department.

In a separate law enforcement operation today, 15th November, four 12 gauge shotgun rounds were found in an abandoned property in St. Johnston Village. The rounds of ammunition seized in this operation are also being processed by the Forensic department.

The Police have not indicated if anyone has been taken into custody in relation to the finds.
