BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party has launched its Code of Ethical Conduct in a brief ceremony earlier today.
The commissioning of the new code comes at a time when “democracy is being trampled by the current Team Unity Administration,” according to party representatives.
According to Nerys Chiverton, Chairperson of the afternoon’s ceremony, the code of conduct policies embodies the renewed commitment of the Labour Party and its executive and is in accordance with the 86-year-old legacy of the founders and forefathers of the Labour movement.
She noted that the party recognized the need to reaffirm old values to solidify its commitment to core principles, including accountability.
Chairman of the Labour Party, Dr. Terrance Drew, shared similar sentiments stating that the party is serious about democracy and responsible servant leadership.
Party Leader, Rt. Hon Dr. Denzil Douglas, along with parliamentarians Hon. Marcella Liburd and Hon. Konris Maynard were in agreement that the policies outlined in the Code of Ethical Conduct are critical elements of good governance and accountability.
