South African violence: Nigeria recalling top diplomat
After days of rioting and looting, it is now relatively quiet in Pretoria and Johannesburg. People are assessing what was lost and trying to pick up the pieces but it could take longer for South Africa to repair the damage done – and change the perception some have that foreign African nationals are not welcome here.
Nigeria is expected to recall its top diplomat in South Africa, where riots in recent days have targeted mainly foreigners from other parts of Africa.
Police have arrested more than 400 people and confirmed several deaths after violence broke out in Johannesburg and the capital Pretoria in recent days.
