Music and dance are languages that transcend boundaries.
They are languages that come from the heart.
Every time performers from St. Kitts and Nevis showcased their talents at various Carifesta 14 venues, the impact was incredible.
There was one defining moment when a patron, who is hearing impaired, joined with the Federation’s drummers.
Music provided the level of empowerment that she needed and it also was the ideal avenue for social inclusivity.
In one other instance, a patron to Carifesta 14 seemingly fought in vain with his social conscience about his behaviour when the SKN All Star Band, along with their lead vocalists, was delivering a high energy soca performance. Suffice it to say, when the patron took off his shirt he conceded defeat.
There were instances where St. Kitts and Nevis dancers were the centre of attention, as patrons watched their every move with intentions of emulating waist gyrations and gesticulations.
Everywhere they went, the St. Kitts and Nevis delegation brought infectious personalities and an advocacy for inclusion.
Carifesta 14 focuses connecting and sharing and music and dance play an integral part in the realisation of this goal- a platform for regional integration.
