St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots blaze to victory in thriller against Trinbago Knight Riders
The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots posted the highest ever total in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) – 242 for 6- to beat the Trinbago Knight Riders, in a thriller at Warner Park last night, September 10.
The KnightRiders had earlier posted a massive 241 for 4, off their 20 overs. Chris Gayle added yet another T20 ton (116) and Chadwick Wharton hit 73.
It was the Patriots first game in a five game homestand and they gave their fans plenty to cheer about.
Evin Lewis put his hand up to take up the task of putting St. Kitts on course in the tall chase by smashing the fastest half-century in CPL history – off 17 balls. He and his opening partner Devon Thomas cashed in on the early field restrictions, as the last four of the powerplay fetched 15, 21, 23 and 14 runs. Even as Lewis fell in the last of those overs, St. Kitts had 89 runs on the board.
The home side blazed to victory with seven balls remaining. In doing so, they registered their first victory of the season as well.
The homestand continues tonight against the Barbados Tridents.
