BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (KYSS FM) – Kittitians and Nevisians are being encouraged to know their diabetes status as part of the activities marking Diabetes Awareness Week.
The week of activities is revolves around 14th November which is observed annually as World Diabetes Day.
According to figures from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), diabetes affects over 400 million people globally.
Dr. Reginald O’Loughlin, Public Relations Officer for the St. Kitts Diabetes Association, underscored the need for residents to get their blood pressure and sugar checked, while free screenings were being offered at Independence Square on November 16.
