Residents of the St. Peter’s area, more specifically New Road, Douglas’ Estate, Carifesta Village, Gillard’s Meadow, can look for special mail delivery come next week, after there was a hiccup in delivery service after the mail man retired last December.
This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Post, Urban Development, and Transport Sharon Rattan.
Rattan was apologetic about the inconvenience caused by the unavailability of mail service for over a month and promised the insertion of a new mail man in the area soon as well.
Several residents of the Lower St. Peter’s area had expressed concerns about not receiving mail and were fearful that the lack of a regular delivery service would jeopardize their commitment to financial obligations that are usually tracked through mail.
There were also significant concerns about the strain the absence of the service was causing on senior citizens and those with disabilities.
