Two officers of the law sentenced for rape
Two former law enforcement personnel- a Police constable and a Defence Force soldier- have been sentenced for rape. They were sentenced on June 18.
Montana Mathias was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with time spent on remand applied while Royston Browne was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment with time spent on remand applied.
Both men were officially charged in December of 2016 in connection to the rape of a female in Nevis in November of 2016.
The initial investigation revealed that the two former officers took the female to a beach and had non-consensual sex with her, after they had promised to take her home after a party on November 3.
Sentencing for both men was originally set for April but there was a delay in the hearing.
