Tyson implores young people to vote in the upcoming election
Kennyate Tyson, a guest on KYSS FM’s “Ask the Leader,” has made an appeal to young people in St Kitts and Nevis who have not yet registered to vote to “do so expiticiously.”
Tyson told listeners that the message from the representatives of the Labour Party, who have been telling their stories over the last four years have highlighted “the many atrocities that young people have faced in the country.
He told the youths it is “our duty to ourselves, our country and the many people, who have lost their lives to ensure the advent of adult suffrage.”
Tyson, who plans to become a lawyer, said the Labour Party in and out of government has set the precedent in this country as the only party that has heavily invested in young people.
Commenting on the message enunciated by the young Labour Party candidates, Tyson noted that despite their different perspectives, he is amazed with their foundation.”
“Irrespective of their perspectives, one thing that they come together on is the inclusion of the people in their decision making,” which he pointed out is one of the most important tenets of good governance.
“People must feel that they mean something to their government when they are given the opportunity to give a solution or a recommendation,” which he said the Team Unity Government and other administrations in the region “seem to forget that we the people are the ones who they are accountable to.”
“That is why I throw my full support behind the Labour Party because if their approach to a people-based decision making.”
