United States leads PanAm Games medal count after day eight of competition
The Pan Am Games are in full swing and the United States has a strangle hold on the medal count, with 28 gold medals, more than twice as many as the second place Mexico, which has 13 golds.
By default, the table is ordered by the number of gold medals the athletes from a nation have won.
In total, the United States has a total of 66 medals, which is inclusive of 22 silver medals and 16 bronze.
Mexico’s tally is 44, with 8 silver and 23 bronze medals.
Brazil is in third place with 11 gold medals.
Canada, Argentina and Colombia all have 8 gold medals, tying for fourth on day eight of the Games.
Host country Peru is in eight spot with 4 gold medals.
English speaking Caribbean territories Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica have collected a bronze medal each so far.
The tally for these Caribbean countries is expected to increase once track and field competition starts.
