Visitor dies during snorkelling excursion at Banana area
A visitor to St Kitts died of an apparent drowning Thursday afternoon.
According to a source, 72-year-old Gregory Dean Vematsu of Caledonia went snorkelling with his wife Patricia Vematsu at Banana Beach, when he told his wife that he wants to go to shore.
While going to shore he reportedly disappeared and his wife then saw him float to the top of the water after several minutes of searching.
A medical doctor went to the scene and pronounced Gregory Vematsu dead.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
The Police have not yet issued an official statement but reliable sources have indicated that the autopsy to determine the exact cuase of death will be performed today, Friday.
Less than a week, a young man from the Saddler’s area died while swimming in the sea in his community. The exact cuase of his death has not been disclosed as yet.
Some suspect drowning.
