Eastern Caribbean Forecast: Showers, thunderstorms and storm
force winds associated with Hurricane Maria will continue to affect Hispaniola
today. As the Hurricane shifts further to the north and away from the island
tonight, showers and thunderstorms will continue but tropical storm force
winds will cease across the island. Meanwhile rain-bands associated with
Maria will continue to sweep across Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands where
showers and thunderstorms are expected under cloudy skies today and
tonight. The rest of the Eastern Caribbean from the Leeward Islands south to
Trinidad and Tobago will be dominated by high pressure ridge. However, a
persistent southeasterly windflow bringing some moisture into the region
could trigger some showers under cloudy spells.
