Woman arrested while protesting at new BHS 3D unveiling
A young lady who was protesting the government’s decision to build the new Basseterre High School on the Basseterre aquifer has arrested by Police during the ceremony for the unveiling of the 3D rendition of the school.
Nerys Chiverton, who was on the fringes of the tent where the ceremony was conducted was holding a placard denouncing construction on the site and voicing her displeasure with the government’s decision, when she was whisked away by authorities.
There are reports that some measure of force was used to arrest her.
A few feet away, other individuals were also protesting.
Video footage show Police moving in for the arrest and walking her away.
Reliable sources reveal that she has been taken to the Basseterre Police Station and her legal team is working on securing bail for her.
It is not yet clear what charges she faces.
