A young woman from the Basseterre area is very fortunate to have the gift of life still after being the victim of a domestic dispute incident on Wednesday last, February 20. One person is in custody in relation to the incident.
The woman was stabbed multiple times by partner but was able to get treatment for her injuries at the Joseph N France Hospital, before being discharged.
The Police confirmed the incident in a press release last evening, February 21.
“The incident occurred sometime after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, at Cardin Avenue. Preliminary investigations have revealed that Veronica Thomas of Cardin Avenue was stabbed and wounded several times with a knife about the body by her boyfriend,” the Police announced.
On Monday, February 18, just two days earlier, a young man lost his life after a confrontation with the Police during a domestic dispute.
According to the Police, they responded to a dispute between a husband and wife and upon arriving at the scene they met the husband attacking his wife.
One officer discharged his firearm to stop the attack.
The deceased was identified as Leroy Henry of Upper Malone Avenue Basseterre.
Domestic violence is considered a major problem in the Caribbean but information is inadequate “due to under-reporting, under-documentation, administrative incapacity, and a lack of appreciation for the use of statistics in the policy formulation and monitoring cycle”
